Land Rover Defender with Rhino Evolution bull bar and winch

Land Rover Defender Touring Setup: Bull Bar, Winch, Storage & Lighting

The new-generation Land Rover Defender is comfortable on the highway and clever off it, but most owners who head bush quickly want more protection, more storage and better light. This guide walks through a practical touring build using parts from the Black Venom range, in the order we usually recommend.

1. Front protection and recovery

The Rhino Evolution Bull Bar + Black Venom Winch Bundle is the backbone of a touring Defender. It pairs a 3D-styled bar with a 12,000lb electric winch on synthetic rope and a 20-inch LED light bar, so protection, self-recovery and forward lighting are sorted in one package.

2. Side storage you can reach

A gloss black side cargo box keeps muddy recovery gear, gloves and tools outside the cabin. Prefer a heritage look? The Union Jack side cargo box does the same job with extra character.

3. Roof access

If you run a rooftop tent, awning or roof load, a fold-out aluminium side ladder makes loading safer than climbing on tyres and sills.

4. Mud flaps

Gravel roads chew up paint and fling stones at following cars. Wide edition mud flaps suit vehicles on wider wheels or tyres; standard mud flaps suit factory fitment.

5. Lighting for camp and trail

LED roof pod lights add wide spread for slow tracks, and LED rear boot lights make setting up camp after dark far easier.

6. Getting in and out

Running boards help the whole family climb aboard. Choose Defender 90 side steps or 110/130 side steps to match your body.

Suggested build order
