Roof pod lights are compact LED lights mounted at the top of the windscreen, usually integrated into a housing shaped to the roofline. They have become a signature look on modern 4x4s, but they are also practical.
What roof pods are good for
- Wide, close-range light on slow, winding tracks
- Lighting up the area around the vehicle at camp
- Seeing branches and obstacles above bonnet height
What they are not
Roof pods are not a replacement for long-range driving lights. For country highway driving, pair them with a set of driving lights such as the Stedi Type-X Pro Plus or Altiq 8.5 inch driving lights.
Use them responsibly
Auxiliary lights must not be used in a way that dazzles other road users. Switch them off for oncoming traffic and follow your state's road rules.
